Today I continued to work on my power point presentation. I added more slides pertaining to the explanation of masculine sadism, as well as famous examples of masculine sadism in popular horror films, including the scene in Halloween when Michael Myers tries to strangle Laurie to death. I intend to tie these examples into my personal connection with this problem, in that as I grew older from childhood, I noticed the prevalent and unsavory use of masculine sadism in many horror films. I also fleshed out my solution to attempting to end sadism in horror films today. I plan on writing, directing, and filming a PSA that satirizes the use of masculine sadism in horror films, and I will post this on Youtube to spread awareness of the issue. I also plan to connect the PSA with a twitter account that I’ll create to raise more awareness via social media. I still need to completely finish my power point presentation and annotated bibliography, along with the PSA video and twitter account.
I have worked on the presentation and I solidified my solution to lower dropout rates. Not only will I provide support and education to give the younger child a better start in life, I will also provide tutoring and assistance to those older children who may also need help. This will be effective because it will help the children gain motivation in the work and it will allow them to stay focused in school therefore lowering the drop out rates. Now I need to finish my presentation and also finish annotating my sources.
Today I continued my research on information about poverty and on the location which I intend to enact my solution (the South Shore neighborhood). I chose my solution to be to send an email to the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and urge them to increase the amount of supported businesses in the area to lower the poverty rate. I still have to format my sources, finish my presentation, and enact my solution.
Today I continued to annotate sources and I also worked more on the presentation. This weekend I will get evidence of myself working with the children and talking to them.
I was able to put some of the finishing touches on my presentation, as well adding a few more slides along with a video to use to further get my point across. I also talked with Mr. Vinluan about how I can shorten some of my text heavy slides.
